Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.
Autodesk introduced a compact version of AutoCAD in 1985. It ran on a laptop and desktop PC computers. Since that time Autodesk has expanded the product line with AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD/Map 3D, AutoCAD 2007 and AutoCAD/Map 3D 2007 (also called AutoCAD Architecture). In the early 2000s, Autodesk introduced AutoCAD 2008, which included features previously found only in the more expensive CAD applications.
AutoCAD is available as both an x86 and a 64-bit operating system (Windows and Linux). It runs on laptops, desktops, workstations, and grid computing servers. It is a stand-alone application and does not require a graphics card or other external device to be able to use it.
Ease of use
AutoCAD’s ease of use is widely considered to be its most outstanding feature. The program is streamlined, and it requires no training to use; it is user-friendly.
AutoCAD LT, is a CAD program with a focus on ease of use for the drafting of three-dimensional objects. It is based on the AutoCAD 2007 release but incorporates many new features.
The graphical interface of the program is easier to work with than the AutoCAD 2007 interface. The drawing area is laid out in a cube, which is easier to manage than the radial workspace of the AutoCAD 2007 release.
AutoCAD LT is a drafting application. Its drawing canvas is a cube that supports four views: side, top, front, and back. There is no need to rotate a drawing because the drawing is oriented in any position. The back view is the default view.
AutoCAD LT is a drafting and 3D modeling tool. There are three modeling views:
2D: view of the sketch layout (AutoCAD LT standard drawing view).
3D: top and front views (simplified 3D modeler).
Details: horizontal and vertical alignment of objects in the drawing.
The top view is the default drawing view.
The 3D view has a wireframe representation of objects.
The 3D modeler can be used to create three-dimensional drawings in AutoCAD LT.
3D drawings can be displayed in AutoCAD LT as 2D drawings.

The first edition of AutoCAD 64 was released in October 1997. The core architecture was designed with a 64-bit system in mind, as was the higher-end productivity tools. AutoCAD 64 was capable of double the speed compared to its predecessor and utilized a 64-bit, industry-standard programming language called S.A.M. (Systems Applications and Management). The software package was an end-to-end business solution: design and drafting, modeling, animation, rendering, and delivery.
The 64-bit architecture allowed AutoCAD’s underlying structure to work at a much higher speed. The new drawing engine also used 64-bit floating-point arithmetic which enabled 32-bit drawing applications to produce drawings at the same accuracy as 64-bit applications. The 64-bit architecture also allowed for more precise alignment, meaning it could be used to do more accurate alignments. The underlying architecture of 64-bit architecture also enabled the entire package to run within the limited 64-bit space of an operating system.
AutoCAD 64 had the following distinct features over AutoCAD:
The 64-bit architecture allowed AutoCAD to create and edit drawings of 16-bit, 32-bit, and 64-bit data.
AutoCAD 64 introduced and supported 64-bit floating-point data, enabling the software to run faster and accurately.
AutoCAD 64 was a whole package solution.
AutoCAD 64 was a professional tool.
AutoCAD 64 had 64-bit DXF support.
AutoCAD 64 was a 64-bit architecture based product, which allowed the underlying structure of the software to be 64-bit.
AutoCAD 64 was the only 64-bit CAD product on the market until the release of CATIA 64 in 2001.
AutoCAD 64 was available on the market from 1997 until 2005, and was available in 2 editions: AutoCAD 64 Standard and AutoCAD 64 Standard with 64-bit versions of advanced drawing applications.
AutoCAD LT 64
The AutoCAD LT 64 was released in November 2006. The 64-bit architecture allowed AutoCAD LT to create and edit drawings of 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit data. The software had a 64-bit DXF version and a 64-bit CAD edition for drafting. The 64-bit architecture also allowed for more precise alignment, meaning it could be used to do more accurate
